When it comes to summer, I live in comfortable cotton dresses. The more lightweight, colorful and comfortable they are, the more they get worn. Now that I work from home, I love getting dressed in more casual clothes I couldn’t normally wear. During the work day I take a bunch of work “walk breaks” to divide up the day. After a lap around the block, it gets hot pretty quick so anything I wear and buy has to be super lightweight during the summer.
My family and I the other day took a trip down to Vero and stopped at the outlets before we hit the beach. Immediately my eye caught this dress because of the pretty rainbow stripes. The under $35 price tag also made the purchase easy. I have nothing but good things to say about this striped J.Crew Factory dress.
J.Crew and J.Crew Factory sizing always runs pretty large to me. I have a 2 on in this maxi dress and the fit is perfect. Even if I choose to wear a bra, there’s still room. It his right about the ankle so it’s more of a high rise maxi length on me if that’s a thing HA! Keep in mind I’m 5’8 though.
The tiered style of the dress is my favorite part besides the stripes. Who doesn’t love a good stripe?! Also, the straps button in the back which is a cute detail that you don’t normally see on spaghetti strap dresses! It’s also 100% cotton and is made of a really lightweight material. Oh and it’s only $35! Can’t beat that!
Maxi dresses are bold, grab your attention and easy to style. I usually use simple neutral accessories and let the dresses do the talking. All about easy and simple over here in the summer. I am already dreading the September heat which means you will only see me in dresses from here on out.
Grab Your Favorite Straw Bag
You probably know by now, I wear straw bags year round and their an easy accessory that gives any outfit a tropical and coastal vibe! I use them for the beach, as an everyday bag and sometimes just for fun! Like how cute is this shell crossbody bag?!
“Summer Layer” with Headbands and Statement Earrings
Earrings and headbands are what I like to call “summer layering”. Instead of adding a denim jacket or sweater to make an outfit more interesting, I love adding bold accessories like statement earrings or woven headbands which are really having a moment.
Sometimes during the work day, I will get bored and add in earrings or a headband to keep the hair out of my face while taking a bazillion phone calls. It sounds silly but it really helps me feel more put together.
Comfortable Neutral Sandals
My favorite summer sandals are on major sale under $35. There are only a few sizes left. If you size is sold out here’s a really similar pair. To make getting dressed easier, buying neutrals is a life saver. I went through a stage where I only bought colorful shoes. They are fun but neutrals will match with everything!
Don’t Forget Sunscreen or A Sunhat
Hats for me are a no-brainer. Anytime I am outside for long periods of time, I have a hat on. If I am on a walk I have a large straw hat and swimming I wear a visor. When I am not wearing a hat, I am slathered in sunscreen. Not wearing sunscreen is really not an option in Florida!
I just wanted to say thanks for always supporting me, this blog and being a lifelong friend! You are really the best! I hope you all had an amazing weekend. Be sure to check back tomorrow, I will be releasing a few new Sunshine Style Co. items and adding more to my ETSY shop!
Lots of Sunshine,
