Smoothie Bowl Recipe
- 1 cup frozen strawberries
- 1 fresh peach
- 1/2 apple
- 1/4-1/2 cup pineapple juice
- 1/4-1/2 cup almond milk
Toppings: Raisins, Gluten Free Granola, Cereal, Goji Berries (can you believe I bought these from Target? I was so excited when I saw that our local store started to carry them!), and fresh strawberries. I also like adding apples, cinnamon, Chia cereal, Matcha green tea powder, dates and chia seeds.
I am a huge smoothie person but I also really like being able to chew my food. Sometimes sipping (more like chugging) down a smoothie isn’t that satisfying and I always end up snacking afterward. I usually gravitate toward anything that is crunchy like cereal or granola- I love cereal SO much. My stomach might be full, but I still need to tell my brain that I ate. That’s why I end up making Smoothie Bowl’s when I have the time.
Quick and easy is what I am all about. On a day-to-day basis I tend to eat and make the same things over and over again until I get bored. I normally always add strawberries or blueberries because that is the fruit I always have on hand that’s frozen. Peaches are in season right now (or at least fully stocked at all of the Publix’s in Florida), so I’ve been making 1-2 smoothies a week with peaches in them. By the way, ripe peaches are delicious! I can’t get enough of them this summer. But then again, I can’t seem to get enough ice cream either, lol! I love the taste of peaches and strawberries together and add apples for more substance. The only difference when making a smoothie bowl and a normal smoothie is that I add a little more frozen fruit to the smoothie bowl to make it more sorbet like or else it ends up melting quickly, making it hard to eat with a spoon.
Making these bowls is like a game. You win some, you loose some but mostly you win- especially with this one. Feel free to play around with the portions and fruit combinations. The possibilities are endless!
