Whoever invented dresses were brilliant! With that late summer heat really starting to hit, dresses are the only piece of clothing I want to wear. What I love right now are all the button up styles popping up. They add such a simple and fun detail. What’s even better is a dress with a soft buttery fabric called chambray. Chambray + a button combo = whoa, perfect summer outfit! Chambray is the equivalent of denim but perfect for those who don’t love the constriction of denim. Can I get an Amen?!
J.Crew Factory really hit it on the mark with this dress. It’s lightweight and very very comfortable! The chambray material on this dress is super soft. I love pieces that I can wear all day and don’t want to immediately rip them off and put on pajamas right away. ? My typical J.Crew Factory size is a 2 (their pieces usually run quite a bit big!).
Since I still shop “normal”, aka not on an unlimited fashion blogger budget, I buy my clothes on sale later in the season. Which means they sell out quickly before I can link them. I try really really hard to share pieces that are shopable because I know I prefer that when I read my fav fashion blogger blogs but sometimes it’s just impossible. You probably know where I am getting at. ? This dress is now sold out which is why I found a few chambray button up dresses from stores that I love! Their all under $50 to!
LOFT Chambray Dress, $44.88
Nordstrom Rack, $35
Everlane Ethical Dress, $88 (I just had to include this dress because #1 it’s ethical, #2 it’s literally the cutest dress for summer and picnics and weekend fun and #3 it’s such a flattering cut!)
I actually wore this exact outfit to church for what I like to call my “Sunday best”. Sometimes when I style outfits for the blog, I will seriously ask myself, “Is this a Sunday best outfit?!” to see how blog worthy it is ha. Obviously, a gingham swimsuit would not make the cut but this outfit totally would!
Now, maybe your thinking, “What do you mean Katie?!” Are you talking like, traditional Southern Baptist where men wear suits and ties and women wear dresses with panty hoes and heels”. ? Not exactly! Sundays are the one day where I really take my time planning out my outfits. I enjoy this process way more than I should ha.
,On a normal work weekday, (when I’m not wearing scrubs) I like to say that I get dressed, just not Sunday church dressed. Not because I don’t love matching and being perfectly accessorized, your girl just loves sleep so much more. That means I wake up way to late to add a statement earring or match my bag and basically just throw clothes on.
I have a process for getting Sunday church dressed aka “blog worthy”. First, I will pick what I want to wear. This is always how I start the styling process. Then I add cute accessories like colorful statement earrings and my straw bags. Most often than not, I only wear my straw bags on the weekends. Mon-Fri I have a cute backpack that I carry with me into the office to make it a whole lot easier on myself to carry all my junk.
On warm summer days, I always like feeling put together and cutsie without being to over the top. For a night/dinner look (if you are way cooler than me and dress up at night), I like styling it with my Castaner espadrille wedges. I’ve also worn it with sandals or a cute pair of casual sandals and a backpack for a casual look. It could also be used as a beach cover up or pack it in your suitcase for your next warm weather vacay.
*sums up my personality and how I usually feel* ?
The wind was really blowing in my favor here. Even my photographer was like, “KT, don’t move, your hair looks great in the wind!” ?
