Wearing a swimsuit always make me feel like me – if that makes any sense. What makes me feel most confident in a swimsuit is when I am wearing one that actually fits well. There’s nothing worse than a saggy or loose swim top or bottom. While I am lovin a good one piece swimsuit this season, two piece bikinis for summer are actually my favorite! They allow me to move around, be active and feel 100% comfortable.
Right before I left for my Hawaii trip, I bought this two piece striped off-the-shoulder swimsuit. At first I was a little leery of the off-the-shoulder swim style. I mean, can you really move in those things or at they just “cutsie” and for show. Well, it caught my eye and I wanted to try. I manly bought it because I knew it would be cute for blog photos. Yah caught me. HA! Surprisingly, it’s super comfortable and I never felt restricted in my movement when swimming.
Can we pause for a second and just admire the mountains in the background!? There’s legit mountains that meet a beach. How cool is that!? Florida does not have those. Every time I turn the corner, the beauty of Hawaii takes my breath away. This beach is about a 5 minute walk from the place I am renting. God surely knew what he was doing when he helped me plan this trip! Some local the other day took a large dried log and used rope to make a tree swing right on the beach! I can’t wait to show you all photos of it. It’s adorable! I had been wanting photos on a tree swing in Hawaii and am so excited it just appeared one day!
There are two types of swimsuits in my mind. Ones for the pool and ones for the beach. I love both for different reasons.
The Best Pool Swimsuits
Think of yourself wearing said swimsuit while sipping pina colada’s (or if your like me and hate coconut – think a strawberry daiquiri) , reading a book on a really colorful lounge chair, dipping in a large pool at a hotel or walking along the beach at sunset. Of course you need to have a cute beach bag in hand at all times to match the swimsuit! All these activities take minimal energy and your biggest concern is to be covered and stylish, not so much afraid your top will get ripped off when a monster wave comes and pounds you into shore. This is really how I learned the hard way of what swimsuit to wear and when. My favorite swimsuits for the pool are one shoulder, off-the shoulder and strapless with cheeky or ruched bottoms!
The Best Beach Swimsuits
Beach swimsuits are ones that need additional support for big waves, swimming or physical activities like Frisbee, volleyball, surfing or cliff jumping. I’d never wear my off-the-shoulder swimsuit when surfing in Hawaii or jumping off the cliff at Waimea Bay because it would be a show for all to see if you know what I mean. I’ve also learned this the hard way. Sometimes when I go to the beach with my girlfriends just to lay out I will wear one of my more “pooly” swimsuits. Unless the waves end up being huge that day, then I’m stuck holding up my strapless top while jumping through the waves. There are sooo many cute swimsuits this season that are perfect for the beach! The best ones will be high neck swim tops, triangle tops or spaghetti strap tops with a fitted bottom like these ones here.
So remember, pool = cute swimsuit, beach = functional and cute swimsuit. Next up will be a guide on the best one piece swimsuits and where to buy them from!
